Karnataka's Kodava district becomes only place in India to have three Lieutenant General serving in Army

Lt Gen Cariappa became the Corp Commander and the District boasts of rare distinction of three Lieutenant Generals serving the army simultaneously. Kodava is a small and beautiful mountain district of Karnataka and is well known in the world for coffee and its “brave warriors”, men and women, serving in all services. Talking only of Indian Army there are 90 posts at the rank of Lieutenant General. Lt Gen PC Thimmaya and Lt Gen CB Ponnappa are the other two generals. Nine terrorists eliminated by the Indian army in Kashmir valley in the last 24 hours

Three soldiers of the Indian Army have died and five terrorists killed on Sunday during an anti-infiltration operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said. Sources said four more soldiers have been injured during the operation to flush out infiltrators along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of the district, which was launched two days ago.  The army said the operation is still underway.  This joint operation is being conducted by 41 Rashtriya Rifles, 57 Rashtriya Rifles, 160 Territorial Army and Special Operations Group (SOG), Kupwara teams.  The army’s action took place on the fifth day of the search operation in which terrorists were being searched in the forests of Kupwara.  During this campaign, there was an encounter between the army and the terrorists in the Rangdori Bahk area in the forests near the Line of Control on Sunday morning. India To Deliver Myanmar’s First Ever Submarine As Both Nations Heighten Maritime Cooperation

According to the report, the Myanmar Navy, which is looking at acquiring its own submarine fleet in the coming years, will use the INS Sindhuvir for training purposes. The Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) is modernising the INS Sinduvir, a Kilo class submarine brought from Russia in the 1980s, in Vizag. The modernisation work is reportedly expected to be completed by the end of this year. The submarine will be fitted with indigenous systems to train the Myanmar Navy. As per the report, the submarine transfer is likely to take place with a line of credit that India had extended to Myanmar for increasing military capability. This is the first time the armed service has been deployed at a civil centre set up to handle the coronavirus cases. So far, the Army’s doctors and specialists have only been operating out of the quarantine centres set up by the force. Defence sources said none of the quarantined people misbehaved with the Army medical team after reports emerged that some Tablighi Jamaat members refused to cooperate and even harassed civil medical teams . “This deployment consists of two doctors and two nurses. Operation Sanjeevani: IAF's C130J airlifts medicines, other health supplies to Maldives

 IAF aircraft C-130J airlifted the supplies to Maldivian Capital, Male as part of Operation "Sanjeevani" on Wednesday. (Photo Credits : Twitter/ @adgpi )  The Indian Air Force (IAF) sent 6.2 tonnes of essential medicines and hospital consumables to the Maldives on Wednesday as this consignment could not be transported through usual channels due to the 21-day lockdown in India. IAF aircraft C-130J airlifted the supplies to Maldivian Capital, Male as part of Operation "Sanjeevani" on Wednesday.  These medicines could not be transported directly to the Maldives from India by the suppliers through any other means as India is under a 21-day nation-wide lockdown to stall the spread of coronavirus pandemic, which has upended daily life, killing more 50,000 globally.  These supplies were procured from 8 different suppliers in India. The Indian Navy’s Potent Conventional Submarine Capability

India is currently planning a fleet of nuclear powered submarines. But unlike other nuclear navies, India will not go all-nuclear . Instead they they will be complemented by 6 locally-built Kalvari Class conventionally powered boats and 6 of a follow-on Project-75I type. These conventional diesel-electric boats will be an important pillar of India’s submarine capability. India currently has three class of non-nuclear submarine.
