30% women in 1st major Army recruitment rally

The Indian Army’s first major recruitment rally since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country will see nearly 14,000 candidates screened over the next eight days in Bengaluru. Nearly 30% of these candidates are women who are aspiring to join the Corps of Military Police (CMP) , which, earlier this year, became the first army branch to have women in its rank and file. Male candidates will be selected for various roles spread across the army. Tuesday, the first day of the nine-day drive, saw more than 1,000 women being screened. An officer from the Karnataka and Kerala sub-area overseeing the rally, “Last week there was an open rally in Ludhiana, but the numbers were not as many.
