Navy Chief to be the Reviewing Officer for passing out parade of 140th NDA batch

This will be the third occasion when the prestigious Passing Out Parade is being held under the shadow of COVID-19 pandemic. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh will be the Reviewing Officer for the ceremonial Passing Out Parade of the 140th batch of the National Defence Academy (NDA) , which will be held on Saturday when over 300 cadets will pass out of the academy after three years of rigorous training. 3 more Rafale jets land in India from France

It is expected that the full deliveries of 36 Rafale aircraft will be completed well before April 2022 as announced by Union defence minister Rajnath Singh in Parliament. Another batch of three Rafale fighter jets landed at the Ambala airbase on Thursday, taking the total number of Rafales in the Indian Air Force (IAF) inventory to 23. According to people aware of the development in Dassault, four aircraft were supposed to take off from Merignac-Bordeaux airbase in France on May 20, but only three could because of the unavailability of more mid-air refuellers in the UAE. Although four Rafale Omni role fighters were supposed to leave on May 20, the flights were rescheduled due to maintenance issues with the mid air refuellers. The fighters could only take off today due to long weekend holidays in France, the people cited above said. Indian Navy's first destroyer INS Rajput to be decommissioned after 41 years of service

Owing to the pandemic, the decommissioning process will be kept a low-key affair. INS Rajput has served India for over 41 years. It was commissioned on May 4, 1980. Indian Navy’s first destroyer INS Rajput will be decommissioned on May 21 after serving the nation for 41 years. The erstwhile Russian-built ship was commissioned on May 4, 1980. Due to the pandemic, the decommissioning process in Visakhapatnam will be a low-key affair. On May 21, a glorious era will come to an end with the decommissioning of the first destroyer of the Indian Navy -- INS Rajput, the Indian Navy said. India set to resurrect '101 squadron' at Hashimara base with 4 more Rafale jets

At the end of May, the Air Force will have 24 Rafale fighter jets in India, with another seven kept for training purposes in France and only five more to be handed over before the two squadrons are complete. With another batch of four Rafale fighters landing at Ambala from Merignac-Bordeaux airbase in France on May 19-20, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is all set to resurrect the 101 “Falcons of Chamb” squadron at Hashimara in West Bengal even as advance units have already moved into the new base. The army plans to induct 800 women into the military police with a yearly intake of 52 women who will serve as personnel below officer rank. The Indian Army on Saturday inducted the first batch of women into the Corps of Military Police , the first time women have joined the military in the non-officer cadre, officials said. Women have been serving as officers in select branches of the three services since the early 1990s. “The Corps of Military Police Centre & School (CMP C &S) at Bengaluru held the attestation parade of the first batch of 83 women soldiers at the Dronacharya Parade Ground on May 8. The parade was conducted as a low-key event while observing all Covid-19 protocols,” the army said in a statement. Air Marshal Sandeep Singh takes charge as chief of South Western Air Command

A key player in the induction of Su-30 MKI aircraft in the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal Sandeep Singh was commissioned in the Fighter Stream on December 22,1983. Air Marshal Sandeep Singh  AVSM VM took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of South Western Air Command (SWAC) of the Indian Air Force in Gandhinagar on Saturday. He succeeds Air Marshal SK Ghotia PVSM VSM ADC, who retired on April 30 2021.
