Army successfully launches BrahMos supersonic cruise missile

The missile can reach the speed of 2.8 times that of sound. The launch by the Army comes over a month after the Naval version of the BrahMos missile was successfully test-fired from INS Chennai. India successfully test fires BrahMos cruise missile from Indian Navys stealth destroyer

(Representative image) India on Sunday successfully test fired BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from Indian Navy’s indigenously-built stealth destroyer INS Chennai today hitting a target in the Arabian Sea. It hit the target successfully with pinpoint accuracy after performing high-level & extremely complex manoeuvres. The test comes in the wake of BrahMos missile having a range of around 400 km being tested from an integrated test range at Balasore in Odisha on September 30. "BrahMos as ‘prime strike weapon' will ensure the warship's invincibility by engaging naval surface targets at long ranges, thus making the destroyer another lethal platform of Indian Navy," the defence ministry said in a statement. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the BrahMos Aerospace and the Indian Navy for the "successful" test-firing of the missile.
