Centre notifies new J&K land laws, omits 'permanent resident' criteria, anyone can now buy land in J&K...similar laws for Ladakh soon to follow

A notification says the government may on written request of an Army officer not below the rank of Corp Commander declare an area as Strategic Area within a local area. Representative image The Centre has notified new laws, including fresh land laws, for the Union Territories (UTs) of J&K and Ladakh and omitted any precondition on purchase of land in J&K, as existed under Article 370 for the outsiders. Under the newly introduced J&K Development Act (XIX of 1970) , it notified that “omit, being permanent resident of the State”. In a fresh notification, Section 30 of and Part VII of the State Land Acquisition Act , Samvat 1990 was substituted by the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (30 of 2013) . Construction of 14 km long Srinagar-Leh Zojila tunnel begins with the First Blast - 15 years after project was first conceived

One year anniversary of Article 370's abrogation: What changed for Jammu and Kashmir

Representative Image Union Home Minister Amit Shah on August 5, 2019 had announced the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A in Parliament, which resulted in the bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories. A year on, section 144 has been imposed in Srinagar to prevent some terrorist outfits from marking the day as a 'Black Day' also to keep a check on the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic that has swept the UT. According to a circular issued the district magistrate, the section 144 has been imposed for August 4 and 5. The abrogation of Article 370 and 35A has extended the reach of Parliament and Indian Constitution over the region effectively ending the autonomous status and provisions where they could make their own laws on most issues. Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon To Head Defence Intelligence Agency Under CDS General Bipin Rawat-Led Department Of Military Affairs

Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon (@ChinarcorpsIA/Twitter) Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon, who was the commander of the Srinagar-based 15 Corps till recently, has been appointed as the director general of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and Deputy Chief of Integrated Staff (Intelligence) under the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat in the Ministry of Defence’s Department of Military Affairs. The DIA, which was created in 2002, is responsible for providing and coordinating military intelligence for the Indian Armed forces. The agency was created after the recommendation from a Group of Ministers which looked into lapses leading to the Kargil intrusion in 1999. The DIA also forms part of the Multi Agency Centre, an umbrella of organisations which looks into infiltration of terrorists from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
