Lt Gen B S Raju to be new Director General of Military Operations of Indian Army

Lt Gen Raju, who has extensive experience in counter-terror operations, will succeed Lt Gen Paramjit Singh who has taken charge as Deputy Chief of the Army Staff (strategy). Lt Gen B S Raju, the General-Officer-Commanding of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, will be the new Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the Indian Army. Punjab: Cadet from Tarn Taran bags Sword of Honour at IMA

For the third time this year, a cadet from Punjab has bagged the prestigious Sword of Honour for being adjudged as overall best cadet of his batch during pre-commission training in an Army institution. The Sword of Honour for the Autumn Term, 2020, was awarded to Lt Watandeep Singh Sidhu during the Passing out Parade (PoP) held at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, on Saturday. He has opted for the elite Parachute Regimen Sidhu, who held the rank of Academy Cadet Adjutant in the final term at IMA, hails from Threeke near Ludhiana. An alumnus of the Rashtriya Indian Military College, he had joined the National Defence Academy, Kharakvasla, in November 2016 and after completing the three-year course in 2019, proceeded to the IMA.  Sidhu is also the sixth generation officer from his family to join the army Lt Adhiraj Singh Sidhu A 22-year-old resident of Panchkula, Lieutenant Adhiraj Singh Sidhu, who passed out from the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, on Saturday, became the third generation officer from his family to pass out from the elite academy. Sidhu is also the sixth generation officer from his family to join the army. He joins 21 Rajputs, a glorious and illustrious regiment of infantry. He said, “I am proud to continue the family tradition, joining the army was a dream for me.” His father is a Colonel. The UPSC CDS Exam II notification was released online on Wednesday, August 5, 2020.   The last date to apply for the UPSC CDS II examination is 6.00 PM, August 25, 2020 . The online Applications can be withdrawn from 01.09.2020 to 07.09.2020 till 6.00 PM. The UPSC is conducting this recruitment drive to fill up 344 posts under Combined Defence Service across the country. The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admit Card three weeks before the commencement of the examination. In yet another departure from the norm, the cadets will not go home but instead report to their respective pre-commissioning training academies directly. While the Army cadets will report to the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, the air force and navy cadets will joining the Air Force Academy, Dundigal and Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala respectively. National Defence Academy (NDA) 138th course passed out on May 30, 2020, completing their rigorous three-year training at the tri-services academy. A total of 335 cadets graduated from the NDA which includes 226 Army cadets, 44 Naval cadets and 65 Air Force cadets.
