Had the Indian Army not landed here, there would have been no Kashmir Issue :: Nayeem

JK National Front Chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan today said, “Had Indian Army not landed in Kashmir sixty eight years back, there would have been no tension on the borders and there would have been no bloody lines at all dividing peaceful Kashmiris.” Nayeem in a statement issued today said the landing of Indian Army in Jammu Kashmir created an uncertainty in the whole South Asian region which has claimed “hundreds of thousands of lives so far.”  “The people are living miserable lives not only in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir but in the whole region. India which claims to be the largest democracy in the world is identified as an oppressor in Jammu Kashmir and its so called democratic face has visible stains of blood of Kashmiris,” Nayeem Khan said. He added, if India is sincere to “live peacefully” with its neighbors then it has to fulfill its promises made with the people of Jammu Kashmir by its leaders on the local and international levels. “It is unfortunate that India is usin

RUSSIA TO LEASE ANOTHER NUCLEAR SUB TO INDIA IN DECEMBER

K-322 Kashalot is a Project 971 Schuka-B Nuclear-Powered Attack Submarine (SSN) If the contract is signed, it will be the third Russia-built submarine handed over to the Indian Navy. An agreement on leasing another Russian nuclear-powered submarine to India is to be signed at the Russian-Indian summit in December, a source at India’s Defense Ministry told TASS. The possibility of leasing a second submarine from Russia will be studied when India’s Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar will visit Moscow next week," the source said. "Parrikar will hold talks on this strategic project with his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoigu. After the ten-year contract is signed another two or three years will be required for upgrading the submarine in keeping with India’s requirements," he said. Over the past 45 years Russia and India have established reliable, time-tested strategic ties in the field of defence. Long way for India to become a defence manufacturing hub

It is been over a year since the government eased the foreign direct investment (FDI) cap in the defence sector hoping to make India a defence manufacturing powerhouse. However, industry players say that while steps taken so far are welcome, a lot more still needs to be done. While the liberalised FDI regime in the defence sector might not have seen big ticket investment flow in just yet, excitement remains fairly palpable within the industry. Foreign as well as domestic players say they are in the process of lining up significant capital as the government smoothens regulatory hurdles in the sector. Collaboration and partnerships between local and global defence players seem to be the order of the day. Rajinder Bhatia, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bharat Forge told CNBC-TV18, “In the last 3 years, we have set up three joint ventures (JVs) – two with reputed foreign companies.” Bhatia further says that the first JV came in at 26 percent FDI limit. The company is in discussion with a

NDIA OFFERS LANKA “TEJAS” TO COUNTER PAKISTAN’S JF-17

COLOMBO:  India has offered to Sri Lanka its Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) to counter Pakistan’s earlier bid to sell to the island nation its JF-17 fighters developed in collaboration with China, the Colombo-based Sunday Observer says. Independent sources confirmed to Express that both Pakistan and India have made their respective offers in the light of the Sri Lanka Air Force’s bid to replace its ageing Israeli Kfirs and MIG 27s. Websites say that the Pakistani offer of F-17s (a variant of the Chinese FC1-Xiaolong Fierce Dragon) has been there since 2013. Some even say that a squadron has been ordered and would join the SLAF fleet in 2017. But the SLAF has been stoutly denying any decision on the matter, and that any country, including India, has made an offer. But it is admitted that the air force is looking for replacements. HSL bulk carrier may be sold to the Indian Navy

Hindustan Shipyard Limited has launched an exercise to explore the possibility of selling a bulk carrier under construction at the yard to the Indian Navy with the Chennai-based Goodearth Maritime Limited failing to settle its dues for nearly a year after placing the order under Diamond Series of 53,000 DWT bulk carriers. The bulk carrier, on which HSL has completed 70 per cent of the work, is lying idle at the outfitting jetty blocking the space for undertaking other activities. GML, for one reason or the other, has defaulted in payment of nearly Rs.20 crore. Despite several reminders, they have not cleared the dues. Now by involving GML, HSL is exploring selling the bulk carrier to the Navy. The latter has also evinced keen interest. “It is at initial stage as we have started tripartite negotiations,” HSL Chairman and Managing Director Rear Admiral N.K. Mishra told The Hindu . HSL completed the delivery of four bulk carriers of 30,000 DWT under Trader Series in 2009 for GML. Later, i

New Delhi: Arjan Singh was the only officer of the Indian Air Force to be promoted to the five-star rank equivalent to a Field Marshal. Air Marshal Singh led the Indian Air Force in the 1965 war with Pakistan which he says was prematurely terminated on intervention by the United Nations. Had it gone on for a few more days, India's victory would have been decisive. Born in Punjab town of Lyallpur (now Faisalabad, Pakistan), Singh was Chief of the Air Staff from August 1, 1964, to July 15, 1969, and was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1965. Now 96 years old, Air Marshal Arjan Singh revisits the 1965 India-Pakistan war in an email interview with IANS saying that the IAF, though initially surprised by the attack, gained air superiority over Pakistan in three days which crippled their air force. Excerpts: Q. Do you feel the Indian Air Force was able to outsmart the Pakistan Air Force in the 1965 War? A. When the Pakistan Air Force attacked our bases in Pathankot and Kalaikunda, we suffe
