What’s the secret of their success?             Evaluation of success stories of military leaders, statesmen, business-persons, actors, writers, educationists, is a revelation and one can come up with several concepts behind their success. A proven concept is the  Success Triangle , representing its three sides, the three success ingredients: Knowledge, Skills and Attitude .             Knowledge: In an academic environment, knowledge represents the core curriculum, irrespective of the courses. To illustrate, in a Management course, to make learning more comprehensive, the curriculum includes such diverse subjects as Economics, Finance, Human Resources, Organisational Behaviour, apart from Management. Leadership is More of ACTION Less of POSITION

Content Written by Cdr. S Prakash, Dir. Prakash The Leadership is an act of applying both Science and Art. Here an individual applies Science by selecting right management tools & finds ways (art) to influence the behaviour of groups to achieve goals. Leadership is of paramount importance in achieving organisational goals. The fact that a leader can have an immense effect on the performance of those under, is well known to all. The Concept of Leadership has been explained by many & the explaination still continues. What we need today is effective leadership which is enduring and changeing the behaviour as well as the attitude of followers.

Content Written by Cdr. S Prakash, Dir. Cavalier Squadron Leader Veena Saharan, Squadron Leader Teji Uppal and Squadron Leader Nidhi Handa are the three women pilots at the 12 Wing Air Force Station, Chandigarh, who have some of the rare achievements to their credit. Squadron Leader Teji Uppal achieved the rare feat when she landed AN-32 transport aircraft, a twin-engine turboprop, at Daulat Beg Oldie, an advanced landing ground (ALG) located at an elevation of 15,400 feet about mean sea level (MSL) just a few kilometers away from the Line of Actual Control in Leh. She is among the select group of women pilots who have been operating in high altitude areas which required specialised training of northern sector on various missions. Married to an Army officer who is posted in Srinagar, she has a four year old son. Squadron Leader Veena Sah

Posted by Col. Yogesh Dewan, Ex GTO 20 SSB Bhopal and Instructor DIPR, New Delhi. Having put-in a three year tenure each at 20 SSB Bhopal a GTO and Instructor at Defence Institute of Psychological research( DIPR) New Delhi, my points are enumerated below about the levels of preparedness/performance of candidates of various entries, being assessed by the three assessers ( viz GTO, Psycologist & IO) at SSBS : -     (a)   General Points (i)            The candidates from Northern & central parts of the country generally lack communication skills, particularly in English language.  They are short of English vocabulary and therefore fail to put across their points of view to the group, as also to the assesses. (ii)           The preparedness level of current affairs is similarly very low. (iii)         Due to above stated weaknesses, they lack confidence, are nervous, stress-prone and sound confused. (iv)          Their performance is clouded due to this essential stress and the ass
