Indian Navy employed the maximum percentage of women among three services

Minister of state for defence Shripad Naik said the number of women serving the Navy is 704 while the strength of men in the force is 10,108. The figure is in respect of women officers only as women are inducted at officer level at present. Women have been employed as officers in Indian Navy since 1992 where in only three streams were available to them namely law, education and logistics. The Indian Navy has the maximum percentage of women in its workforce among the three services at 6.5 per cent, according to details provided by the government in Rajya Sabha on Monday. The percentage of women in the Army and the Indian Air Force is 0.56 and 1.08 respectively. Ka-226T utility chopper has 33% indigenous content: HAL

Total indigenous content of the Ka-226T Utility helicopters “In Ka-226T when we talk of 70% indigenous content, it is not the same as the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) 52%. The 70% is of the Russian content. Engine from Safran and avionics from other countries are not accounted for in this. Balance is what we are looking and from there 70% is taken.  Taking the whole helicopter, the indigenous content is about 27-33%,” he said in response to a question from The Hindu at Aero India. Russians were unable to offer 70% of this and they offered upto 62%; that too which will come only in Phase-4 of production, he stated. Lieutenant General CP Mohanty takes charge as Vice Chief of Army Staff

Lieutenant General Chandi Prasad Mohanty took over as the Vice Chief of the Indian Army. IAF will focus on Rs 1.3 lakh crore deal for 114 fighter jets

The IAF has already issued the Request for Information (RFI) for the tender. Global leaders including fighter jet manufacturers from the US, France, Russia and Sweden have responded to the RFI. Indian Coast Guard to celebrate 45th Raising Day today

Since its inception in 1977, the ICG has saved over 10,000 lives and apprehended around 14,000 miscreants. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) will celebrate its 45th Raising Day on Monday. With just seven surface platforms in 1978, the ICG has grown into the fourth largest coast guard with 156 ships and 62 aircraft in its inventory. The ICG has targeted force levels of 200 surface platforms and 80 aircraft by 2025. Since its inception in 1977, the ICG has saved over 10,000 lives and apprehended around 14,000 miscreants . During the pandemic, the ICG maintained a 24X7 vigil in the Exclusive Economic Zone, by deploying about 50 ships and 12 aircraft daily. In 2020, ICG seized contraband valued at Rs 1,500 Crore and apprehended over 10 foreign fishing boats with 80 miscreants illegally operating in the Indian EEZ. Boeing gets United States government approval to offer F-15EX to India

Boeing has received a licence from the U.S. government to offer its F-15EX fighter jet to the Indian air force Boeing will compete with Sweden's Gripen and France's Rafale among others for the Indian air force's plan to buy 114 multi-role aircraft to replace its Soviet-era fleet. The three new additions will add to the current fleet of eight Rafale jets. Three Rafale combat aircraft will arrive in India on Thursday after flying non-stop from France, an Indian Air Force official said on Wednesday.   The three Rafale combat aircraft, manufactured by French company Dassault Aviation, took off from Istres in France on Wednesday. Indian, French air forces to conduct 5-day joint military drill around Jodhpur from Wednesday

India and France will carry out a five-day mega air exercise near Jodhpur beginning Wednesday that is expected to see Rafale jets of the two countries engaging in complex maneuvers to enhance operational coordination, official sources said. The exercise --'Ex-Desert Knight 21'-- is taking place at a time when the Indian Air Force has been keeping all its frontline bases across the country in a high-state of operational readiness in view of the Sino-India border row in eastern Ladakh. "The aim of the exercise is to provide operational exposure and share best practices towards enhancing combat capability."
