WATCH: "Do Your Politics But Don't Insult Indian Army And Martyrs", Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore Slams Rahul Gandhi

Union MoS Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Rathore on Monday lashed out at Congress president Rahul Gandhi for insulting the Indian Army and martyrs during his press briefing in New Delhi. The BJP leader took to social media and posted a video message in which he slammed Rahul Gandhi as he showed a clip of Congress president's press briefing in which he made an insensitive remark against the Indian Army.

In the video, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore said, "during your press conference in Delhi, you have insulted our soldiers saying, 'This Rs 30,000 crores could have been given to you(pilots) when you die in a plane crash'. Every Indian knows how to respect the soldiers and martyrs. And you must know the difference between mercenaries and soldiers."

He later displayed the meaning of 'Mercenary' taking a dig at the Congress president, saying that a mercenary is 'a soldier who is hired to serve in a foreign army'.

Later, Rathore urged Rahul Gandhi to not insult the soldiers during his political discourse, adding that the Indian soldiers fight for the nation and not for the 'money'

"Our soldier fight for our country 'India' and not for a foreign nation. They do not fight for money. They fight for self-respect and for the security and respect for the nation. You(Rahul Gandhi) do your politics, but don't insult the Army and martyrs in your politics. Can I expect this much from you?

On February 8, Rahul Gandhi addressed a press conference on the much-talked-about Rafale deal where he said that, "In the Rafale deal, Rs 30,000 crore were given to Anil Ambani's Reliance Defence. This money could have been given to those (pilots) who die in plane crash. This Rs 30,000 crore could be given to your families.

He cited a newspaper report which suggested that the PMO had held parallel talks with the French government relating to pricing, something which was objected by the Ministry of Defence. But Republic TV accessed the full letter cited in the report written by the MoD in 2015, which exposed the half-truth shown by the newspaper and also exposed the lies of Rahul Gandhi.

Retirement Age of Troops in Army, Air Force & Navy Set to Increase, Says CDS General Rawat

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat has said that the retirement age of jawans in the Army, airmen in the Indian Air Force (IAF) and sailors in the Navy will be extended as it could benefit nearly 15 lakh men of all three armed forces.  “We are soon bringing a policy to extend the service profile of the men (forces nomenclature for troops) and have an increased minimum retirement age,” said General Rawat in an exclusive interaction with The Tribune yesterday. On being asked if he was looking to cut down the manpower costs as rising salaries and pensions were taking away a large portion of the budget, General Rawat said, “I am looking at manpower costs. Why should a jawan serve for just 15 or 17 years, why cannot he serve for 30 years? We are losing trained manpower.”  Easing fears that this policy would change the age profile of the fighting force, he said that the frontline combatant could be young. “We have an Army Medical Corps, why can’t the nursing assistant serve ...
