Indian Army eliminates 12 Pak Soldiers, MI-17 choppers ferry bodies to Rawalpindi

In a major victory for the forces, the Indian Army gunned down 12 Pakistan Army soldiers, including two officers on Thursday in retaliation of continued ceasefire violation by the neighbouring forces along the Line of Control (LoC).

Sources have told twelve coffins were seen at the Pakistani Army brigade headquarters opposite Jammu and Kashmir's Sundarbani sector. The Pakistan army was seen using two MI 17 helicopters to transport the mortal remains of the slain soldiers from Sundarbani sector to Rawalpindi, intelligence sources further added.

The intelligence inputs suggest that two officers and ten soldiers of the Pak army were killed in India's retaliation in the Sundarbani sector and 22 Pakistani soldiers were injured.

Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along Line of Control in multiple districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

An Army rifleman was killed on Thursday after Pakistan violated ceasefire along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district.

"Pakistani forces on Thursday violated the ceasefire and resorted to heavy shelling with mortar along the LoC in Sunderbani and Nowshera Sectors in Rajouri district," officials said.

The Pakistani forces started firing in Sunderbani area on March 21 morning while firing at Nowshera sector began around 2.45 pm. The Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively to the firing from the other side of the border.

Earlier this week, a soldier was killed and three civilians were injured when Pakistani troops fired across the LoC in Rajouri district.

After taking note of the grave situation at borders, the Army on Wednesday provided advanced sniper rifles to its troops posted along the LoC in the Kashmir Valley and Jammu region to retaliate ceasefire violation by Pakistan.

Retirement Age of Troops in Army, Air Force & Navy Set to Increase, Says CDS General Rawat

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat has said that the retirement age of jawans in the Army, airmen in the Indian Air Force (IAF) and sailors in the Navy will be extended as it could benefit nearly 15 lakh men of all three armed forces.  “We are soon bringing a policy to extend the service profile of the men (forces nomenclature for troops) and have an increased minimum retirement age,” said General Rawat in an exclusive interaction with The Tribune yesterday. On being asked if he was looking to cut down the manpower costs as rising salaries and pensions were taking away a large portion of the budget, General Rawat said, “I am looking at manpower costs. Why should a jawan serve for just 15 or 17 years, why cannot he serve for 30 years? We are losing trained manpower.”  Easing fears that this policy would change the age profile of the fighting force, he said that the frontline combatant could be young. “We have an Army Medical Corps, why can’t the nursing assistant serve ...
